Quality Manager

Context and Role Summary:

The Quality Manager is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring and maintaining the highest standards of quality within the manufacturing processes. The role involves overseeing the implementation of quality control measures, managing quality assurance systems, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Manager collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to optimize product quality, customer satisfaction, and overall operational efficiency.

 

 

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

Quality Management Skills:

· Develop and implement quality management strategies, policies, and procedures.

· Establish and maintain ISO quality management systems or other relevant certifications.

· Conduct regular audits and inspections to monitor compliance with quality standards.

· Analyse production processes, materials, and finished products for potential quality issues.

· Investigate customer complaints and implement effective corrective actions.

 

Leadership and Team Management Skills:

· Lead and manage the quality team, providing guidance, training, and motivation.

· Foster a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence throughout the organisation.

 

Process Improvement Skills:

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives in the manufacturing processes.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize product quality and operational efficiency.

· Implement quality control measures to prevent defects and improve Right First Time

 

Communication and Relationship Management Skills:

· Develop and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

· Communicate quality metrics and performance to senior management regularly.

· Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and supply chain teams.

 

Data Analysis and Reporting Skills:

· Utilise data analysis techniques to identify trends and areas for improvement.

· Prepare and present quality-related reports, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

 

Problem-Solving and Root Cause Analysis Skills:

· Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.

· Proactively address quality challenges and prevent reoccurrence of defects.

 

Compliance Skills:

· Stay updated with relevant industry standards and regulations.

· Work with the business Compliance Manager to ensure compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, etc).

 

Organisational and Time Management Skills:

· Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

· Maintain attention to detail while upholding high-quality standards.

 

Customer Focus Skills:

· Address customer complaints and resolve issues promptly and effectively.

· Prioritize customer satisfaction while ensuring product quality.

 

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

· Utilise data-driven insights to identify improvement opportunities.

· Implement quality control processes to reduce waste and rework.

 

 

Skills, Capabilities and Attributes:

Experience

· Proven experience in a quality management role within the packaging industry or related manufacturing field.

· Demonstrated track record in successfully implementing quality control processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

· Experience in leading quality teams and fostering a culture of quality excellence.

Skills/Knowledge

· In-depth knowledge of quality management principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).

· Strong understanding of packaging manufacturing processes and related quality challenges.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.

· Proficiency in data analysis and quality metrics reporting.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

· Knowledge of relevant industry standards and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, etc).

 

Qualifications/Education

  Lean six sigma manufacturing qualification
