Job Description
The role holder will set the strategic plan and direction for the Engineering function using lean principles to support delivery of world class manufacturing in engineering.
Inspiring the team to successfully deliver KPI’s and business objectives through an honest and transparent style of leadership.
Contributing to securing the continuity of production flow and capabilities of the plant through reduction to the optimal level of downtime and machine stoppages.
The role holder will create clear role profiles, outlining key responsibilities to drive accountability of team members whilst ensuring that maintenance engineers are adequately trained to complete all required tasks through clear and effective communication.
The role holder must be confident to lead, direct, empower, support and delegate tasks to engineering team members.
Liaise with Supervisors and Managers to keep them updated with maintenance downtime plans that may impact production targets.
The key responsibilities will include:
Manage and oversee the engineering department’s resources to effectively support production and plant’s infrastructure.
Design the internal maintenance procedures and tools to ensure that all repairs and maintenance works are performed at the highest quality level and cost effectively
Design and execute the preventive maintenance works’ schedules
Active involvement in negotiations of the service contracts and overseeing their execution
Oversee the department performance through constant budget control and collecting feedback from the beneficiates of the engineering team’s works
Ensuring that the maintenance resources and materials are utilised in a cost effective manner
Advise the site production management on improvement opportunities in terms of machinery utilization and maintenance
Design and execute the educational program for the production operators on basics machinery repairs and maintenance works
Compliance with company’s Health and Safety requirements
Ensure Health and Safety training of subordinates
Any other duties as required by the needs of the Business
Key knowledge and experience:
Significant experience in a manufacturing is a must
- Is a multifaceted leader and demonstrates a number of management styles
- Can be “tough-minded” when required and carries sufficient credibility and gravitas when dealing with business
- Demonstrates empathy and patience when appropriate
- Can manage substantial budgets within cost parameters
- Has key understanding of manufacturing needs in relation to efficiencies, quality and budgets
- Needs to be an effective and positive communicator
- Must have good analytical skills
- Must be an effective “self starter”

- Technical Honors Degree or equivalent
- Previous maintenance experiences in a manufacturing environment, preferably a high degree of automation and batch production.
- Previous leadership and management experience.
